The 1,468 sq. metres warehouse has a transit storage capacity of up to 5,000 metric tonnes, providing storage for all the different GMA Garnet grades and packaging configurations. The Group is now able to offer Australian customers a superior level of service such as prompt (and in many cases – same day) despatch as well as improved control over product damaged in transit. Perth and Western Australia’s South West customers in particular will benefit from this conveniently located Kewdale facility. In addition, the Group purchased a 46-tonne container lifter (reach-stacker) that enables the handling of an average of 15 containers per day. All warehouse personnel attended a one-week training course to obtain a CN crane licence and are now qualified to operate this machine. The dedicated team of three personnel headed by Warehouse Manager Darrin Langguth is able to handle all the Australian and international cargo business seamlessly with a day loading and receivals record of 980 tonnes of cargo loaded into 17 containers and packed into stock.
